Published peak torque for current sim racing wheelbases runs from 3.2 Nm on the PXN V10 Pro to 32 Nm on the Simucube 2 Ultimate. The most common mid range figures are 9 Nm on the MOZA R9 V3, 10 Nm on the Thrustmaster T818 and Simagic Alpha Mini, 11 Nm on the Logitech G PRO and 12 Nm on the MOZA R12 V2. Anything above 8 Nm requires a bolted cockpit, and 12 Nm and above requires heavy steel or aluminium profile.

Peak torque in newton metres is the headline specification of a direct drive wheelbase, and it is the one most often misread. It is not how strong the wheel will feel in normal use, because almost nobody runs a base at full gain. Read the gain column down the page and the point of the chart appears. The Simucube 2 Ultimate at 32 Nm wants 19 percent to feel the same as the MOZA R5 at 5.5 Nm wants 100 percent. Compare confidently within a brand and with a margin across brands. Specifications also change between hardware revisions, so confirm the current figure with the manufacturer before purchase.
